Shankar Narayan is the founder of Satvik Vegan Society (formerly Indian Vegan Society). He was the Regional Coordinator (India, South-West Asia) of International Vegetarian Union (a federation of global veg organization) from 2006 to 2016. He is also the Founder of Sthitaprajna Vegan Forest.  He is one of the members of the Vegan Foods Task Force, constituted by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
